Amelia Bensinger Repp

Peter Repp and Amelia Bensinger married on 12 May 1836 in Medina County, OH. Amelia had come to Ohio with her parents from Schuylkill County, PA in 1834. Peter and Amelia lived on a farm in Congress Township, Wayne County, OH, right on the border line between Harrisville Township, Medina County and Wayne County. They had eleven children, two daughters and nine sons. Peter was a farmer, but also a businessman. To support his large family, he would butcher and sell meat at the market in Cleveland, OH. He probably also did custom butchering for the neighboring farmers. Peter and Amelia are both buried in the Repp-Kime cemetery in Harrisville Township. Among Peter's estate papers is a doctor's bill for various treatments and medicines for a prostate condition during July and August 1894. Apparently the condition was serious since Peter wrote out his will and signed it 8 August 1894. He died 25 September 1895 in West Salem, Congress Township, Wayne County, OH, where he was living with his son Henry. Amelia was already deceased, having died 19 October 1893 at the age of 77 years. Amelia had become a Christian in 1886 and had joined the Evangelical church in which she remained and lived a consecrated and devoted life.

For many years I have been researching the names (and inter-marriages of) REPP, BENSINGER, KIME, SHEFERD, STITLE, and STROCK / STRACK. I am now writing a book about the history and genealogy of the descendants of CASPER REPP, German immigrant to BERKS / SCHUYLKILL counties, PA, ca 1737.
