From: bagley@info2000.net Date: Mon, 6 Oct 1997 15:06:01 -0600 Subject: Price and Phillips Seeking information on the following couple: Mary Ann PRICE (who married) Theophilus PHILLIPS Mary Ann (Price) Phillips is known to be a cousin of Angeline (Reese) Smith who was born about 1852 to Thomas J. Reese in St. Clair, Schuylkill County, Pa. A distant cousin has a photo of the two cousins (Mary Ann PRICE and Angeline REESE) in a photo album. Says the two girls look to be about the same age. Angeline (Reese) Smith lived in Schuylkill, Luzerne, and Lackawanna counties. Do these names sound familiar to anyone out there? Subject: THOMAS and JAMES Looking for any info on Mary Ann THOMAS (birthdate and place unknown) who married Thomas JAMES (b. 1846) on 9/17/1866 in St. Clair, Schuylkill County. Wondering if she could be my g grandfather's mysterious first wife who is said to have died in childbirth (prior to his second marriage in 1880 to Jennie or Mary Jane LITTLE, my g grandmother). JAMES and THOMAS were married in St. Clair, Schuylkill County, possibly at the home of his grandparents, Thomas J. REES(E) and Ann PRICE. His parents and younger siblings were living in Luzerne County. My (brief) notes follow. Hoping someone has info regarding the THOMAS/JAMES family in their research notes (census records, church records, cemetery records, etc.). !QUESTION-MARRIAGE: MINERS JOURNAL; Marriages 1852-1934; 1866 Marriages (8/7 -10/11); EXTRACT: 9/17; Thos. S. James & Mary Ann Thomas; St. Clair; Minister, Wm. Morgan; QUESTION-ACTION: Determine if this is our Thomas James and his first wife, said to have died in child birth; NOTE: (1) Thomas James was born in St. Clair; (2) His grandparents, Thomas and Ann (Price) Rees(e) lived in St. Clair; (3) 1866 is one year after our Thomas James was released from military service in Civil War; (4) Would have been abt age 20 years; (5) May be same minister that married his parents in 1844; William Morgan vs William Morgans (two ministers in Schuylkill County with same/similar name(s)?); (6) May be the same minister that married Catherine Rees(e) and John Batten, his aunt and uncle, in 1850; (7) Notes of Leona Pearl (Stoker) James, my deceased grandmother, indicate marriage before 1872. ############################################################################## Ruth Ann in Colorado (U.S.A.)
