From: mbshafer@city-net.com (Michael Shafer) Subject: SHAFER, John, Sr.; West Penn Twp., Circa 1801-1832 Date: Fri, 03 Oct 1997 20:46:49 -0400 Greetings, Looking for information and leads pertaining to my 2g-gf, John SHAFER, Sr. From a small family history I have it states that John SHAFER, Sr. was b. 5.18.1801 in West Penn Twp. Of course West Penn was then part of Northampton Co., PA. John married Magdalena "Molly" FRYMAN (FREYMAN) in the early 1830's. The most probable date of the two I have is 2.16.1832 and John was listed as living in Tamaqua. John SHAFER and family then moved to Denison Twp., Luzerne Co.,PA in 1838. John and Molly are buried in the Laurel Cemetery in White Haven and a recent visit confirms John's year of birth as 1801. John SHAFER, Sr., died 8.14.1883. I would like to correspond with anyone that has any possible connections to any SHAFERs or variations of the name living in the area of Northampton Co. that became part of Schuylkill upon its formation. Other possible connections are through several of the children of John and Molly SHAFER as several of their son's moved to Tamaqua area upon reaching maturity. Best Regards, Michael Shafer Pittsburgh, PA mbshafer@city-net.com
