From: GAREPP@aol.com Date: Sun, 5 Oct 1997 18:31:15 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Amelia Bensinger This obituary appeared in the Medina County (OH) Gazette, 2 Nov 1893: Amelia Repp, maiden name Bensinger, was born in Berks Cty, PA 16 Jan 1816 and died at her home near West Salem, Ohio, 19 Oct 1893, aged 77 years, 8 months and 3 days. She emigrated with her parents to Ohio in the year of 1834 and was united in marriage to Peter Repp in 1836. To this union was born nine sons and two daughters. She was converted during the winter of 67 and 68 and joined the Evangelical association in which she remained and lived a consecrated and devoted life until death came to release her of her pain and suffering. She has been a sufferer for many years and for 28 long months she has been sorely afflicted, but humbly bound to the will of the omnipotent and love her affliction with Christian patience (sic) only waiting for the master to say "it is enough, come up higher". Her very countenance told that she was prepared to go and meet her God in peace, and she often expressed her desire to depart this life and be at rest beyond the shining shores. She leaves to mourn her departure an aged husband, 6 sons, 2 daughters, 44 grandchildren, 11 great grand children, and a host of relatives and friends. 11 grandchildren preceed her to the spirit world where they meet in bliss to part no more. Funeral by writer, assisted by Revs. D.C.Echerman and A.F. Beary of the West Salem Evangelistic church. "Peace be to her ashes". (signed) H.O.Henderson. Amelia is buried with her husband Peter Repp in the SW corner of the Repp/Keim cemetery in the southern part of Medina Cty, OH between West Salem and Burbank (both in Wayne Cty), about 3 miles S of US 42.. Amelia's parents were Johannes Bensinger and Catherine Allsbaugh Bensinger. Her children were: William Franklin, Polly, Amelia, Henry William (my ggrandfather), George, John, Solomon, Moses, Samuel, David, and Lewis. Peter Repp was a businessman/farmer. He butchered meat and hauled it , cured, to market in Cleveland in large barrels by horse drawn wagon. A picture supposedly exists showing him and Amelia atop such a wagon. I have not seen it. Hope you, and others, find this of interest. I would be happy to hear from anyone having information about ALLSBAUGH (b. ca 1782 in PA- d. Medina Cty, OH). Glenn Repp
