New Ringgold, Aug. 12-- 
	The fourth annual reunion of the Bensinger family was held at the old
homestead, about two miles west of New Ringgold, on August 1st.
	The following relatives and friends were present from Dubois,

	The day was spent very pleasantly in pitching quoits, playing ball and
singing songs.  Wm. Steigerwalt, a former resident of this vicinity, but now
located in Iowa, made a short address.

	The Eldest Bensinger	CHARLES BENSINGER and his daughter, MRS. H. L.
STULL, of Dubois, PA., traveled a distance of over two hundred and fifty
miles to join in the celebration.  Mr. Bensinger is 85 years of age and is
so far as is known, the oldest Bensinger in the State.  He is still hale and
hearty, and relates many incidents that occurred in his childhood days in
and around the old homestead.

	This valley, which is known as the BENSINGER VALLEY, was at one time
entirely owned and occupied by the Bensingers.  Fritz Bensinger, a
Revolutionary Patriot, soon after the war settled with his family in this
valley and built the first log hut, within three hundred yards of the
present building to protect themselves from the wild beasts and prowling
Indians.  They had to walk across the mountain to McKeansburg, a distance
of about a mile, where they spent the night with friends.  Here they raised
four sturdy sons, and afterwards divided the estate of about four hundred
acres among the sons, JACOB, FRED, MICHAEL and ISAAC.  MICHAEL received the
homestead as his portion.  This portion of the estate has since remained in
the family, being handed down through four generations, and is at present
owned by FRANK L. BENSINGER.  FRANK has made quite a number of improvements
on this farm, and is at present engaged in supplying the house and barn yard
with water from a mountain spring.  He also intends to transform about two
acres of the farm, which is now covered with chestnut tress, into a grove
for the use of these annual gatherings.
