Calvin J. Dinklocker

Calvin J. Dinklocker, 78, Long Stretch Road, Pine Grove, died Tuesday, August 29, in Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.
He was born in West Hazleton on November 17, 1922, son of the late Calvin G. and Mary Taylor Dinklocker.
A 1940 graduate of Pine Grove High School, he attended the Capital Arts College, Charleston, West Virginia. He continued his education after the Army at North Carolina University, Raleigh, graduating in 1950 with a degree in polymer chemistry.
A World War II Army Veteran, he served in the Aleutian Islands, Leyte, Philippine Islands and Okinawa. He recieved the Asiatic Pacific Company medal with three battle stars, Good Conduct medal, Purple Heart, Bronze Star with valor, Victory medal, American Defense and Battle for Britton medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Veterans Service Medal and Six overseas bars.
Retired since 1982, he had been employed be the Union Carbide Chemical Company for 32 years, in the research center and in the field as a research chemist and technology specialist, traveling extensively throughout the country.
He formerly resided in West Virginia.
Mr. Dinklocker was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, pine Grove. He was known for his work in scouting in all areas and capacities from 1934-1980.
Preceding him in death were one son, Calvin Jr. and one sister, Gladys Adams.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Virginia Stevens Dinklocker; two sons, Raymond, Charleston, West virginia; Douglas, Pine Grove, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Diane Everett-Dinklocker, Lancaster, Pennsylvania; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond, Minersville, Pennsylvania; and Howard, Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania; one sister, Marjorie Dinklocker, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held September 2, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, Pennsylvania. The Rev. May Chapman officiated. Burial was in Elk Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, West Virginia.
