Sarah/Sally Holdeman/Haldeman. The first we find our ancestor is in
Schuykill County on the 1860 census. The census lists Jacob with wife,
Sarah (family knows her as Sally), a son age 4 (Benjamin Franklin Maury
1856-1940 -our gr.grandfather), and an infant daughter. The family
remained in Schuykill County (Tamaqua area) until about 1910 when they
settled in Allentown, PA. Jacob and Sarah and all the various spellings
had the following children: 1. Benjamin Franklin m. Mantanna Simmons
1866-1928 daughter of Harrison Simmons and Adeline Leh, 2.David who
married Mary German and moved to Detroit, 3. Jesse, 4. Jacob (Jr.?), 5.
George, 6. Emma never married and lived in Seek, PA later called
Garytown, 7. Mary who married ? and moved to Boston. I have tons more
information. Jacob and Sarah are found again on the 1890 census with
part of their brood still living with them. By that time Benjamin had
joined the National Guard in Mauch Chunk where he was a drummer. He
played many "opera houses" in the area. He also had photography studios
in Slatington and Tamaqua. We have pictures he did. We have a wonderful
photo of Jacob. If there is a link in your information that you have
