Mathias Tress Sp: BENTZINGER, Johann Georg s/o Johann Georg and Barbara?

Hi All,

I'm wondering if this Mathias is the Son of Conrad DRESS. I stumbled onto a record that says Conrad DRES(original name)came to Berks Co. via Ann Galley in 1746. When he gets here DRES became DRESS. He has a son Mathias(c1757-1762, I've recieved both dates from 2 different sources). I have other info that isn't able to be posted legally, that says the name changes from DRESS to TRESS in 1779 to about 1790.

I did my homework and found out DRES is pronouced DRACE so, TRESS would be pronounced TRACE and thus my surname(and have 2 sources that say after Conrad's passing in 1790 some of his kids and grandkids went with the TRACE.

BENTZINGER, Johann Georg
b 5 Apr 1782 bp 20 May 1782
s/o Johann Georg and Barbara?
Sp:Matthias TRESS and Magdalena BENSINGER

and

Tress, Matthias, Pub. of the Historical Society of Schuylkill County, V2 p252

I'm also aware of a Wilhelm Dress and wf Maria in Albany Twp. about this time as well!

What I'm asking basically is, is this Mathias Conrad's Son or Wilhelm's?
